Meghan Retallick

School District of Rhinelander
Reading Specialist/Instructional Coach
Rhinelander, Wisconsin
My name is Meghan Retallick, and I am the secondary level reading specialist/instructional coach for SDR. I graduated in 2007 with an undergraduate degree in English Education from the University of WI-Stevens Point, and completed my Masters of Science in Education (literacy focus) in 2016 from Concordia University. I spent seven years as a classroom teacher working in several districts in Wisconsin teaching English/Language Arts in grades 6-12. One of my favorite successes as a teacher is taking something many consider "boring" and making it relevant and engaging for students, especially using digital literacy! The upcoming school year is my fifth year as the secondary level reading specialist/instructional coach. One of my favorite aspects of this role is being involved in collaboration between teachers and administrators to further our learning to better instruct our students. I am influenced greatly by the work of Jim Burke, Jeff Anderson, Barbara Marinak, and Cathy Toll when it comes to best practices in instructional coaching and the teaching of reading and language arts. On a personal note, I am a wife and mom, happily raising my two daughters (both attend Crescent!) and my toddler son. I love music, reading, theater, yoga, football, hockey, and the outdoors. I believe in working to live a balanced life and enjoying the little things.
