Amy Johnson
School District of Rhinelander
Teacher
Rhinelander, Wisconsin
Amy Johnson has been employed by the School District of Rhinelander for 12 years, first working as an elementary Special Education teacher, after which she followed her passion for reading by pursuing her 316 and 317 Reading Teacher/Specialist license. For the past seven years, she has served as a Title I teacher for the district. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Reading Association and International Reading Association. Working with struggling readers, she has noticed the importance of utilizing 21st Century skills to engage and motivate them in their studies. Amy recognizes the urgency for students not just to “read” but also to have the ability to locate, critically evaluate and synthesize information in both digital and traditional texts.
